Student Activity Fee Allocation (SAFA)
The UCA Student Government Association (SGA) constitution and by-laws define two avenues for groups to obtain funding from the SGA. The first path is to go through the SAFA funding procedure each Spring. SAFA funds allocated during the spring SAFA proceedings are available to groups beginning the next academic year. The second path to obtain SAFA funds is through Emergency SAFA funding. Emergency SAFA funding is available during the academic year to new RSO's or for groups that have discovered emergencies needs. Either way the SGA will fund your organization so that students may take advantage of learning and/or recreational pursuits that are not available through the University.
SAFA Funding
- What is SAFA Funding?
- Student Activity Fee Allocation. A portion of your student activity fee is allocated by the SGA each year to RSO's and departments for student activities.
- Who is eligible for SAFA Funding?
- Registered Student Organizations (RSO) and departments may apply for SAFA funding each spring semester.
- When can I apply for the SAFA funding?
- The SGA SAFA Committee meets each Spring semester and reviews applications for SAFA funding. Each group requesting SAFA funding must apply, complete the necessary SAFA forms, and present their request to the SAFA committee. SAFA funds allocated during the spring semester are available during the fall and spring of the next academic year.
- What can be funded? And what is not funded by the SAFA funding committee?
-
- SAFA will not cover expenses for parties, gifts, awards, food, rentals, maintenance, or prizes.
- SAFA will not cover honoraria and/or performance fees for UCA faculty and staff.
- Travel expenses will be funded (gas, food, lodging, airfare) at 50% for one in-state and one out-of-state event each year.
- SAFA will fund registration fees up to $1,000 per year per organization.
- A full explanation on SAFA funding can be found in the SGA constitution on the SGA web site.
- What SAFA forms do I need and where do I get them?
