International Student Taxes
Please be aware that some university scholarships are taxable in the United States. Scholarships that are taxable include those that cover room, board and certain university fees. If you are receiving a scholarship that covers any of these costs, you will be taxed each semester by the U.S. government. The University calculates these fees each semester and posts them to your student account. You should be able to access your URSA account to see if tax charges have been added to your account.
Scholarship taxes for 2009 must be paid, along with any other outstanding amount, before pre-registration for the Summer and Fall semesters begins in March. This is very important because students with outstanding balances for ANY REASON will not be allowed to register for future semesters.
If you have questions regarding international taxes, please see Mr. Jason Rankin in Student Accounts. Mr. Rankin can be reached by e-mail at jrankin@uca.edu. His office is located in McCastlain Hall.
