Exchange Students
INFORMATION FOR J-1 EXCHANGE VISITORS
Students and exchange visitors will be issued a Form DS-2019 to apply for a J-1 visa at a United States Embassy or Consulate. Once issued the J-1 visa, students may enter the United States to pursue their educational objectives. The following links will give students information on how to apply for the J-1 visa and on the legal rights and responsibilities of students in J-1 status, including mandatory reporting at the Office and the proper procedures to follow if transferring to UCA.

In order to receive the form DS-2019 needed to apply for your J-1 (student) visa, you must submit the following:
Step One: Request for J-1 Exchange Visitor Document
All prospective J-1 students must submit the "Request for J-1 Exchange Visitor Document". This form can be downloaded as a .pdf file and faxed to the Office of International Programs or can be completed online. Please be sure that all information is provided and your current mailing address is correct.
Step Two: Proof of Financial Support
Exchange students who are paying tuition at their home institution must document that they will have $3000 per semester for housing and personal expenses. You should request a statement from your financial institution, on letterhead, indicating that this amount will be available. Keep the original because you will need it in order to apply for your visa after receiving the form DS-2019. Fax a copy to 501.450.5095 (Attn: Lisa Shoemake, Responsible Officer)
