Internationally acclaimed and frequently anthologized poet and novelist Sandra Cisneros was born in Chicago, Illinois, and currently lives in San Antonio, Texas. In addition to her highly popular and frequently taught novel The House on Mango Street, she has published three volumes of poetry (Bad Boy, 1980; My Wicked Ways, 1987; and Loose Woman, 1994), a collection of short stories (Woman Hollering Creek, 1991), and a bilingual children's book (Hairs/Pelitos, 1994). Her most recent novel is the highly praised Caramelo (2002).
