Athletic Stipends are still available for 2009-2010 Bear Marching Band. Members of this year's band will get a check for $100 per month for the months of September, October, and November for their participation in our Athletic Events. Both incoming freshmen and current UCA students who play a wind or percussion instrument qualify. Bear Marching Band August Camp Schedule and procedures are now posted on this website. The detailed times are subject to change, but dates and start times are solid.

Congratulations to clarinetists Chelsea Daniel, Conway, and Carol Sikes, Fort Smith, for selection to the National Collegiate Wind Ensemble. Chelsea and Carol will travel to New York City this spring for several days of rehearsals with the NCWE and a gala concert in Carnegie Hall. Selection to the NCWE is through competative audition; candidates submit an audition CD, resume, and professor recommendations. Chelsea is a member of the UCA Wind Ensemble and colorguard of the Bear Marching Band. Carol is a member of the UCA Wind Ensemble and a feature twirler with the Bear Marching Band. Both are from the studio of UCA clarinet professor Dr. Kelly Johnson.

The UCA Campus plays host to the 2009 Dixie Band Camp. The Junior camp runs from June 15th-20th and the Senior Camp runs from June 21st-27th. Camp concerts are on the afternoon of Saturday, June 20th, Evening of Tuesday, June 23rd, and the afternoon of Saturday, June 27th. Please see the Dixie Band Camp Website for more details.

UCA Bands will host a Dixie Band Camp Pizza Reception for all students who are attending UCA in the Fall of 2009 and will participate with the bands. You are invited to room 216 for lunch with current UCA Band Students and Faculty. It is a great time to meet some of our upperclassmen and ask faculty any questions you may have for the fall.

Chair auditions for the UCA Concert Bands and Jazz Bands will be August 17th - 21st.
